Jeremy saw three different sized dog mats. They measured 36 inches by 28 inches, 27 inches by 21 inches, and 24 inches by 18 inches. Are all the mats similar?

As Kenneth said, the ratios should be equal if reduced:

 

36/28 = 9/7

27/21 = 9/7

24/18 ≠ 9/7  Not similar

 

The first two mats are similar, the 3rd is not

For each mat, calculate the ratio of length to width.

Those that are similar will have the identical ratio.
