you want to make a 10 pound mixture of almonds and peanuts that is worth $4.60 per pound. the almonds are worth $5 per pound and the peanuts are worth $3 per pound. how many pounds of almonds and peanuts should you use ?

a = 10 - p

5(10 - p) + 3p = 46

50 - 5p + 3p = 46

2p = 4

p = 2

 

a = 10 - 2 = 8
