The length of a rectangle is (x + 4) and the width is (x + 2). What value of x makes each shape have the same perimeter?

It has algebra in it and it is very weird and i need Help trying to find the answer

Andrew M.

You have only listed one shapw .. A rectangle
with length of (x+4) and width of (x+2).
What other shapes are you talking about?

Perimeter = 2(L+W) = 2(x+4+x+2)
                = 2(2x+6) = 4x + 12

Area = LW = (x+4)(x+2) = x2 + 6x + 8
