Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
let p=pam's cards, c=carl's cards, s=steve's cards, j=julie's cards, g=george's cards
p = c-4
c= p+4
s = 7p
j=s+6= 7p+6
g=306=3(p+s+j+c)
p+s+j+c = 306/3 = 102
replace s,j and c by equivalents in p
p + 7p + 7p+6 +p+4 = 102
16p = 102-10 = 92
p = 92/16 = 23/4 = 5.75
then Steve has 7p = 7(23/4) = 161/4 = 40.25 which is not an integer, suggesting a mistake(s) in above calculations
but check back later, corrections upcoming, holding you in suspense
either that or a mistake in copying the problem or a misprint
