If I had a 18 cubic foot fridge and I purchased a 30 cubic foot fridge how much more percent storage space do I have?

Our original fridge was a 18 cubic foot. We now have a 30 cubic foot fridge.  The additional cubic storage space is 12. My wife is wondering what our additional percentage of storage space we have. I had told her that 50% of the old 18 cubic foot is 9 cu feet. So if we have a additional 12 cubic feet wouldn't we have more storage space than 50% of the original?  She is telling me 40% however i found 66% Please let me know it's a argumentative question thx

Ira S. is correct. Look at what he said about how to find the percent of increase; "the amount of change divided by the original." The 40% is coming from 12/30=4/10=40% which is totally incorrect. The original number is not 30%, it's 18% ! A 40% increase would be 40%*18=7.2 cubic feet. A 66 2/3% increase would
be 66 2/3%*18. Change 66 2/3% to a fraction and get (200/3)/100=200/300=2/3. 2/3*18=12.
