Need help with a first degree word problem/equation.

I need help with this first degree word problem/equation. A summary of the steps I need to take to get to the answer would also be appreciated. Here is the problem: A concession stand worker pours a pound of butter costing $3.60 per pound over three pounds of popcorn costing $0.32 a pound. How much will the buttered popcorn cost per pound? The answer given is $1.14, but I don't know how to come to that conclusion.

1 pound of butter costing $3.60 per pound = $3.60

3 pounds of popcorn costing $0.32 a pound = 3(0.32) = $0.96

 

Total cost = 3.60 + 0.96 = $4.56

Total weight = 4 pounds

 

dollars per pound = 4.56/4 = $1.14
