An inversely proportional equation looks like this   y=k/x

 

We need to calculate the value of the constant k first, for which we will plug in values:

 

50,000 = k/2      k=100,000

 

y= 100,000/x   so for x=5  then y = 100,000/5 = 20,000 gallons
