Quadratic equation:
ax2 + bx + c = 0
x = [-b ±√(b2-4ac)]/2a
4w2 + 7w + 6 = 0
a=4, b=7, c=6
w = [-7 ±√(72-4(4)(6))]/(2(4))
w = [-7 ±√(49-96)]/8
w =(-7 ±√-47)/8
w = [-7 ±(√47)i]/8
w = (-7 + i√47)/8 or (-7 - i√47)/8
As you can see this quadratic has complex roots but that is no problem.
