the question is “a ball is hit with an initial velocity of 80 feet per second from a tee 3 feet above the ground. What is the max height of the ball? When does it hit the ground?”

h = -16t² + 80t + 3

 

 

We will put this formula in vertex form.

 

h = -16(t² - 5t + (25/4)) + 100 + 3

 

h = -16(t - 5/2)² + 103

 

 

Your vertex is (2.5, 103).

 

The maximum height is 103 feet.
