A cube with an edge of 20 cm is filled with water. Would this amount of water fit in a sphere with a 20 cm radius?

Find the 2 volumes and compare them.

 

Cube:

 

V_c = L³ = (20 cm)³ = 8000 cm³

 

Sphere:

 

V_s = (4/3)πr³ = (4/3)π(20 cm)³ ≅ 33,510 cm³

 

V_c < V_s, so the volume of the cube fits inside the volume of the sphere.
