If you are a female, you are expected by society to fill the duties of mother, careprovider, and housewife.

 

If you are a male, you are expected by society to work and earn a living for family and even join the military if situation is dire.

 

If you are a child, then you are expected by society to go to school and have fun.

 

 

According to these examples, you are expected to participate in your gender's or age's everyday life activity.  But if you are not too conservative, then you can alter these roles.
