You buy a clothes pattern for $7 at a fabric store. You also buy 3/4 yard of red fabric, 2 1/2 yard of purple fabric, and 7/8 yard of blue fabric. The total cost was $23.50 All three fabrics cost the same per yard.

Solve to find the price per yard. How much was spent on each fabric?

Note:

3/4 = 0.75

1/2 = 0.5

7/8 = 0.875

 

7 + 0.75p + 0.5p + 0.875p = 23.50
