Kayak rentals cost $15 for the first hour, and $12.50 for each additional hour for a 2 person kayak. You have $52.50. How many total hours can you rent the kayak?

15 + 12.50x = 52.50

15 is a constant and 12.50 changes for ever hour after the first hour.

Subtract 15 from both sides:

12.50x = 37.50

Now divide both sides by 12.50 to solve for x which will be how many hours you can rent the kayak
