A candy distributor needs to mix a 20% fat-content chocolate with a 50% fat-content chocolate to create 200 kilograms of a 47% fat-content chocolate. How many kilograms of each kind of chocolate must they use?

Let x = kilograms of 20% fat

Let y = kilograms of 50% fat

x + y = 200     x = 200 - y

.20x + .50y = .47(200)       Multiply both sides of the equation by 100 to remove the decimal points.

20x + 50y = 47(200)

20(200 - y) + 50y = 9400

4000 - 20y + 50y = 9400

30y = 5400

y = 180 kg

x = 200 - y = 200 - 180

x = 20 kg
