Hannah wants to buy a $570 camera. She can save $50 each week from her paycheck. However, before
Hannah can buy the camera, she must give her brother $80 that she owes him. For how many weeks will
Hannah need to save before she can pay back her brother and buy the camera?

Suppose she saves for n weeks at $50 each week.  If she starts with zero $, the minimum value of n is determined from

 

($50)n - $80 = $570

 

Solve for n.

 

n = (570 + 80)/50 = 13

 

She must save for a minimum of 13 weeks.
