What process must be performed during clean up: filtration, distillation or chromatography? Why?

Cleanup of what?  Filtration will "clean up" a solution that has a solid in it. Distillation will "clean up" a mixture of two liquids, and chromatography will "clean up" a mixture of several compounds.  Note the use of "  "  for the term "clean up", because this is not a term often used in chemistry with these processes.  If this doesn't answer your question, try posting it again with additional details, or message me, or comment on this answer.
