jose makes $540 a week working 7 1/2 hours a day, monday through Saturday. How much weekly income will he lose if his boss cuts his work day down to 7 hours?

His work week is 7.5 hours per day x 6 days = 45 hours

 

$540/45 hours  = $12/hr

 

7 x 6 = 42 hours

42 x 12 = 504

 

$540 - 504 = $36 loss

Jose works 45 hours in the week.

That is $12 an hour ($540 / 45)

If he works 42 hours he earns $504.

 

How much less is that?
