I have already covered one-third of the distance from Cityville to Boondocks. After I walk another kilometer I'll be halfway there. How far it is from Cityville to Boondocks?

1/2 = 3/6 and 1/3 = 2/6

 

1/2 - 1/3 = 1/6

 

1/6 of ? = 1

 

? = 6

 

See watch.... 1/3 of 6 is 2. Add one more you get 3, which is half of 6.
