HI Lisa, let m represent the number of months. Set up two equations representing the cost for each club.
Equation 1, Club A:
Cost club A = 12 + 19m
Equation 2, Club B:
Cost club B = 20 + 15m
To find the solution, the cost of club A must equal the cost of Club B:
12 + 19m = 20 + 15m
Combine terms:
4m = 8
m = 2
In two months the totals for each club will be the same.
Total for club A:
Cost = 12 + 19 * 2
Cost = 50
The total cost for club A is $50.
Total for club B:
Cost = 20 + 15 * 2
Cost = 50
The total cost for club B is $50.
