There are 378 students who are enrolled in an introductory biology course. If there are five boys to every two girls, how many boys are in the course?

boys = 54(5) = _____

There are 54 groups with 5 boys in each group.  54 * 5 = 270 boys.
 
To check,
The same 54 groups have two girls each.  54 * 2 = 108 girls
 
270 + 108 = 378, the same # of students in the class..
