get?

Let y = the number of pounds of cheddar popcorn

x + y = 4       Solve for y.

y = 4-x

7.25x + 4y = 25.75     Multiply both sides of this equation by 100 to get rid of the decimal points.

725x + 400y = 2575

725x + 400(4-x) = 2575

725x + 1600 -400x = 2575

325x = 975

x = 3 pounds

y = 4-y = 1 pound
