I'm thinking the answer is Vf or t but I'm not sure..

Rewrite    Vf = Vi+a delta t    by plugging in 
2 delta d / Vi+Vf    For    Delta t.
 
when you do so you will get the equation in the question below:
 
So tell me, Vf^2=Vi^2+2ad is independent of what variable?

The kinematic equation
 
vf2 = vi2 + 2ad
 
does not depend on time t.  Answer (3) is correct.
