I have a can not figure this problem out.

Question

 At Kentucky fried chicken, the kitchen staff baked 96 chicken legs, 144 thighs, and 224 wings. The staff had to prepare platters for a catered lunch  at an office. Each water will have the same number of legs, thighs, and wings. How many platters can the staff make  if they want the greatest number of chicken pieces on each platter?

Greatest common factor of 96, 144, 224

 

    96                = 8 x 12                   = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3

 

144 = 12 x 12 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 2 x 2 x3 = 2 x 2 x 2 x  2 x 3 x 3

 

224 = 2 x 112  = 2 x 2 x 56 = 2 x 2 x 7 x 8 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 7

 

The common prime factors are 2 x 2 x2 x 2  = 16

 

 

Each platter will have 16 drumsticks, thighs, and wings.

 

There are enough drumsticks for 6 such platters,

               enough thighs for 9 such platters,

              enough wings for 14 such platters

 

So the yield is 6 complete platters containing 16 of each piece.

 

I am not going to ask the obvious question about the 4th part

of piece of the chicken that is missing from this list, conspicuous by it's absence.
