At the start of business each day, Petersen's Bakery in St. Augustine has twice the number of $5 bills as $20 bills in the cash register. If the register holds a total of $750 in fives and twenties at the start of the day, how many of each type of bill does it have?

Answer 1

2x = # $5 bills

 

20x + 5(2x) = 750

20x + 10x = 750

30x = 750
