1 gallon = 3.74 liters

1 km = 0.621 mi

 

therefore l liter = 1/3.74 gal = 0.2674 gal

 

8.8 km/l = 8.2 (0.621 mi)/(0.2674 gal) and you can finish this job on calculator.
