We did 1,700,000 x .1 but was told it was wrong because they needed to divide. It's the exact same answer found another way, plus this wasn't even taught in school. They are working on decimals, so I assumed they wanted the decimal form of 1/10 used.09/20/19

We did 1,700,000 x .1 but it was marked wrong because it was said that they were supposed to divide. Why would a correct answer be marked wrong simply for using a different method (and to me, multiplication and division are interchangeable)? The kids are working on decimals (both multiplication and division at the same time, not one or the other), so it seemed common sense to me that they'd want you to use the decimal form of 1/10, which would therefore cause you to multiply.09/20/19
