The length of a rectangle is 7inches less than 4 times the width. The perimeter is 96 inches. Find the length and the width

L = 4W - 7

P = 2L + 2W = 96

 

2(4W-7) + 2W = 96

8W - 14 + 2W = 96

10W - 14 = 96

 

Finish solving for the width W, then plug that

value into L = 4W - 7 to solve for the length
