This question has been posted time and again.
Initially the loss is $100.
When the $100 returns, the loss is
replaced by $70 in merchandise and $30 cash.
The loss is still $100 total.

The transaction after the theft has nothing to do with the loss. $100 is stolen. Any transaction after, if the correct change is given, would not impact that loss in any way.03/10/19
