It is called peer review to make sure that proper control has been executed in experiments, experiments have adequate replicates and data is consistent, researchers have used all the prior published information to design their experiments and interpret the results. 

 

Group of scientists working in the same field conduct peer review for journals where one group might have submitted their work for publication as journal article.
