Suppose that you are building a shed and need to pour a concrete slab to support it. You know that the slab will be 15 feet wide, 10 feet long, 6 inches deep. Concrete is normally sold by the cubic yard. How many cubic yards will you need for the slab?

1 Yd = 3 ft. so the dimensions are 15/3 yd wide, 10/3 yd long and (6/12)/3 yds deep

The concrete needed is (15/3) * (10/3) * ((0.5)/3) = 2.78 yd^3 ≈ 3 Yd 3 because you will never find who sell you 2.78 yd^3.
