This is division of x-2 by the unfactorable quadratic trinomial. The linear expression is the dividend, and the quadratic expression is the divisor; these may also be referred to as numerator & denominator, respectively. In actuality, this problem cannot be simplified further in any way (because of the nonfactorability of denominator).
You do not divide something from something else; the correct wording is division of the numerator by the denominator.

If x-2 is supposed to be the denominator, then you have written the problem upside down.
If THAT were the problem (dividing by x-2), THEN you should use synthetic division.
