Math Word Problem

Question

Father gathered a certain number of mangoes from the farm.He sold 1/2 of the mangoes and gave 1/2 of the remainder to each of his 3 friends.He had 10 mangoes left.How many mangoes did he have at the beginning?

Answer 1

This is a logic problem.

1/2 x sold + 1/2 x given away +10 cannot equal x.

And how can you give half the mangoes away to 3 friends as well as selling half, which totals to 4 halves.

And there's 10 left over!!

This problem is written wrong.
