Dave buys a baseball for $15 plus an 8% tax. Mel buys a football for $20 plus an 8% tax. What is the difference in the amount Dave and Mel paid, including tax? Round your answer to the nearest cent.

Dave paid: $15 + .08*$15 = $15 + $1.20 = $16.20

 

Mel paid: $20 + .08*$20 = $20 + $1.60 = $21.60

 

Difference: $21.60 - $16.20 = $5.40
