At what angle do I need to insert a 7 inch probe into an 8 inch diameter roll for the tip to be in the cneter of the roll?

I have a data logger with a 7 inch probe and we use it to temp meat rolls which are 8inches in diameter. At what angle do I need to insert the probe to get to exactly the center of the roll? Thanks

It depends on the shape of the rolls being probed.  If they're spherical, insert perpendicularly (to the tangent) at the point selected.

 

If the rolls are cylindrical, consider a side view (triangular) and you will be able to figure it out by trigonometry.
