I began cycling at 11am. I finished 75% of the whole trip at 2pm. What time will I finish the whole trip?

This is a worded problem that I need help with. I have been trying to figure it ou but I can not.

Let's first figure out the number of minutes from 11am (11:00 hours) to 2pm (14:00 hours) :

 

14-11 = 3 hours. This is equal to 75% of the total time, t. 

 

Note: 75% = 75/100

 

3 hours = (75/100) x t 

t = (3 hours)/(75/100) = 4 hours

 

Therefore, your trip will end 4 hours after 11 am: 

 

11:00+4= 15:00 hours which is the same as 3pm.
