At 20 C water passes 20 gm steam. Calculate the mass of water, when water will acquire temperature of 90 C?

4.184 J/g ^oC is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1^oC. Steam, we presume, has a temperature of 100 degrees.

 

So, 4.184 x (90 - 20) x T = 4.184 x (100 - 90) x 20g => 70 T = 200g where T is the mass of water you're trying to find.

 

Solve for T by dividing both sides by 70.
