Diameter of a small pizza was changed to 12 inches. The new size will have eight slices instead of the original six. What is the increase in area of the new slice to the nearest whole percent?

For original pizza, compute area of one slice by (1/6)(pi)(radius²).  But you have not told us what that radius was.

 

For new pizza, compute area of one slice by (1/8)(pi)(6²) because the radius six is half of the diameter, in inches.

 

You may then compare the two different single slice areas--but only after determining radius of small pizza.
