The sum of four numbers is 396.80. The first two numbers are 96.8 and 100.1. Find the average of the four numbers

The average is the sum of the numbers divided by the number of numbers.
 
So divide 396.80 by 4.  The fact they give you the first 2 numbers is extra information.
