 a theater sold a total of 198 adult and childrens tickets. The theater took in 2064$ at the box office receipts. If the adult tikets were 12.00$ and the childrens tickets were 8.00, how many of each kind of tickets did the theater sell

Let x = # of Adult tickets sold, then 198-x = # of children's tickets sold.  Set up the following equation:

 

12.00(x) + 8.00(198-x) = 2064  and solve for x

 

4x + 1584 = 2064
