You, as a human, are a real world application of atoms.
Without atoms anything that is physical (has mass) and takes up space (volume) probably wouldn't exist (Stuff --> Mass--> Atoms). I say probably because this isn't an experiment we couldn't ever test (probably lol). I am trying to image a world without anything you can see or touch but I just can't find a basis for the reference for that type of reality.
IBM was able to create the world's smallest movie by arranging atoms one at a time (IBM, 2013).
