First of all, there must be parentheses around the quantity (1+i) if this is the usual financial formula involving interest rate, Accumulated amount, and Principal.
Next, you may invert both sides, giving 1/P = (i+1)/A
Then A/P = i+1
Finally i = A/P - 1 or, using a common denominator, i = (A-P) / P.
