Hi Nikki,
I will use elimination. The other two methods are equally easy to use, but elimination is easier, in this case. Let's say r is Rema's age and k is Ken's age.
r > k (Important to know this for future equation set-ups.)
r - k = 12
r + k = 50
Add the two equations together:
2r = 62 → r = 31
Plugging it back to any of my previous equations:
31 - k = 12 → k = 19
