emilys fishank can hold 50 gallons of water when completely full. If Emily uses a 1/2 gallon jug to fill it how many full jugs of water will she need to fill the fishtank?  Can you show the work in steps please.

You must divide the total capacity of the tank by the capacity of one jug to get the number of jugs required to fill the tank.

 

Total capacity of tank = 50 gallons

Capacity of 1 jug = 1/2 gallon

 

Required number of jugs to fill tank:

 

(50 gallons per tank) / (1/2 gallons per jug) = 100 jugs per tank

 

It takes 100 jugs to fill 1 tank.
