Question

A cart full of packages weighing 180 pounds is rolling down a ramp 12 feet long at an incline of 25° (the force applied by gravity is equal to the weight of the package). Find the work done by gravity as the cart moves the length of the ramp. Assume that friction isn't a factor.

You can consider the force of gravity as a constant. The work done by gravity is then W = Fs where s is the displacement in the direction of the force of gravity.

 

So what is the force of gravity F?

What is s? Remember you are on an incline so it is not 12 feet exactly. Draw a triangle if you have to.
