Word Math Question

Question

There is a car that has a 76% chance of making a trip to chicago, if you had to use the same car to get to New York, Based on mileage what percentage of a chance would you have to making that trip?

This is a crazy question--it's not sensible or realistic to put yourself at risk driving or riding in a crummy car. Practically speaking, the cost and safety risks make it impossible to make such a choice.  Getting stuck in unfamiliar territory with a broken down car is a horrible possibility.  What is the source of this nutty problem?  (I'm guessing CommonCore.)
