Question

If Cesar does a job in 60 hours and with the help of Autumn they can do it together in 50 hours, how long would it take Autumn to do it alone?

In 50 hours Cesar does 5/6 of the job (50 worked / 60 needed)

1/6 of the job remains to be done by Autumn.

She works 50 hours to get 1/6 done so she would need 300 hours (6 times 50) to do it alone.

If Ceaser can do the job in 60 hrs, then, in 1 hr, he can do 1/60th of the job, right..

 

So, 

 

Ceaser's work  -----> in 1 hr ------> 1/60

 

Similarly,

 

Ceaser's + Autumn's work -----> in 1 hr -----> 1/50

 

Now, to help you understand, lets take a simple example...

Lets say x = 10 and  x + y = 24. Then, we know y = (x+y) - x  i.e., 24 - 10 = 14

 

Similarly,

Autumn's work -----> in 1 hr ---------> 1/50 - 1/60 = 1/300

 

So, Autumn alone can complete the task in 300 hours...
