I need help in solving this problem. It says to solve and check. 2x+8= -6

Subtract 8 from both sides of your equation and you are left with

 

2X = -14

 

Now divide both side by 2

 

X = -7

 

To check you put the -7 back into the original equation:

 

2 (-7) + 8 = -6

 

-14 + 8 = -6

 

-6 = -6
