Which occurred first? The Rodney King incident or the riots of Los Angeles? Also, what caused the Rodney King incident? Thanks.

The Rodney King incident occurred first.  African American motorist Rodney King was beaten by 4 Los Angeles police officers.  They hit him a total of 55 times.  The beating was caught on videotape.  However, the officers were still acquitted.  Their acquittal sparked the Los Angeles riots.
