Not sure about this answer

Question

Jones assembles 200 relays in the same time that smith assembles 180. When Jones has completed 300 relays, how many will Smith have turned out?

 

My husband is taking a test for a maintenance position and was given this test for a study guide. The answer wrote down is 270 and I am not sure that this is right. Any help would be great!! Thanks

300 is 1.5 times 200

1.5 times 180 is 270.

Proportion:  200 is to 180 as 300 is to x

 

200/180 = 300/x

cross multiply

 

200x = 300(180)

x = 300(180)/200 = 270

Use a proportion:  Jones:Smith = 200:180 = 300:x

That is, 200/180 = 300/x
