I do not believe that the diameter's increase would be a constant value, from year to year, in the real world.

 

If you accept that, then d is simply 0.6 inches times age in years, which is equivalent to the "word formula" given by Mark.

age = 7.92 in / 0.6 in per year

age = 13.2 years
